Q: I like the idea of two teams, or at least to areas, to ensure focus on both the app and the plugin. However, since both are offered next to each other in many cases–how do you foresee us managing that?
From David: Managing different variables here, one of them is the importance of managing the teams that manage the products. Managing 2 products + a team is the current situation. An advantage for us is that we have the same biz and sales team for these Partners who could just integrate one or both of the products, handling the operations would be easier. A potential drawback is that if we give special care to the products and they evolve and get better, it would become more complex. Broad question, regarding the Product Metrics. We are all betting on this very significant Rock and its impact on all teams. As a team we have always been in favour of metrics, yet we have struggled in prioritising them. Interested in your perspective of why this has been so hard for us.
I really like the idea of each product having its own team! How would it work with the current Shape Up methodology? How do you see Shape Up scaling with complex products or many teams?
I’m missing a third team for the Core (Platform and API) that supports both product teams (App and WP). Let’s talk about it in more depth 🙂
